ACTIVITIES OF DAILY LIVING

A black two-step stair with upright railings of plastic pipe on one side allows a small boy to reach the school water fountain.  A teacher stands nearby in the tiled hallway, as the child, his hand on the bubbler button, prepares to drink.

One-size doesn’t fit everyone, but Loan can reach any water fountain in his elementary school, from one of the two steps of his lightweight and portable, double-decker step stool.

Essential Question:

Imagine every aspect of eating, bathing, dressing, toileting, and resting.

 

What myriad of adaptations would enhance a child’s independence, enjoyment, and self-confidence?
