POSITIONING

A girl sits on a red sled-shaped chair on the floor. The chair has a high back that reaches above her shoulders and a seat that extends the full length of her legs, on which she wears molded plastic braces nearly up to her knees. She is wearing a lap belt for support, and holds a book open in her lap.

Finally, Danielle can sit on her own during reading circle, as the other children do—and not in the lap of a paraprofessional.

Essential Questions:

Does the child have access to multiple positioning options throughout the day?

Does each position ensure active participation, appropriate support, and sustained comfort?
