ADAPTATIONS

DREAM BIG.

Think of what people could do if they had the adaptations you imagine,

and refuse to stop talking about them until they get made.  Every project begins with a good idea,

and designers and makers everywhere are eager to help you make a big difference.

Creating user-specific adaptations is a great joy, and the process from assessment to the finishing touches can be life-changing for everyone involved; those inspiring and receiving adaptations (the “users”), those who imagine and request adaptations (the “dreamers”), and those who design and build adaptations (the “makers”).

Creating custom adaptations is also a great responsibility.  In our effort to ensure high quality and avoid mistakes, we embrace Six Principles of Fabrication and recommend that adaptive designers and fabricators follow them carefully.

Before a device is used, the team must agree that the adaptation is:

1) safe

2) needed

3) wanted by the user and the team

4) attractive

5) durable

6) made with materials that are eco-responsible, locally available, and at low or no cost
