PLAY, RECREATION

A 3-year-old boy in a striped jersey is smiling broadly as he reaches his left hand toward a small electronic tablet. The tablet is held almost upright by a cardboard easel painted blue, positioned so that Austin must lean forward a bit to reach.

Austin's new supportive chair--specially made, just for him--is equipped with a tray that lets him engage in many activities from a well-supported position.  The blue easel holds a tablet at just the right angle for Austin to reach.

Essential Question:

Consider the favorite play and recreational activities of a child’s siblings, family, and friends. What adaptations would ensure active play, exercise, and enjoyment?
