INTERNSHIPS
OCCUPATIONAL AND PHYSICAL THERAPY FIELDWORK

OT/PT students experience therapy from a unique perspective by working closely with our OT Consultant and Fabrication Team to assess, design, and build equipment for children in NYC. These 8-12 week fieldwork experiences are for students who have completed their coursework and have done full-time fieldwork in at least one other setting.
DESIGN & ENGINEERING

Design & Engineering students experience many facets of design at ADA. Interns work closely with our Fabrication Team to design and build custom equipment for children in NYC.
SERVICE LEARNING

ADA has a limited number of community service and hands-on learning opportunities for high school and university students exploring design, education, OT/PT, public policy, and healthcare.
WORK READINESS

ADA has hosted work readiness internship programs for the untapped workforce (i.e. adults with autism, U.S. Veterans, and women enrolled in Alternative to Incarceration programs). This type of internship offers interns an opportunity to experience a real work environment, test new insights, and practice positive workplace behaviors. Through substantial and meaningful work experience and by learning hard and soft skills, interns can improve their chances of future employment. ADA collaborates with host organizations to support and customize internship placements.

All applicants are required to submit an intern application, cover letter, and resume. Please fill out our application here and forward your cover letter and resume to info@adaptivedesign.org.
