OUR PEOPLE

Volunteers

Volunteers are an essential part of ADA.  Without them we couldn't accomplish half of what we do. Our staff is small and our budget is modest, but our stalwart volunteers make us a larger organization with a greater impact.  They are some of our best ambassadors, too.

We will periodically add names and faces to this page until we have

acknowledged all the current volunteers:  the talented, skilled, reliable, wonderful people we rely on for so much.

In addition to our current roster, over the years Adaptive Design has had hundreds of volunteers, far too many to list here.   We remain deeply grateful for their invaluable contributions.

Angela Marvin

Volunteer since February 2016

Angela admires the humanity of ADA and loves being part of it.  Children, inclusion, social change.  These themes brought her to the organization to join the team that makes a difference in a harsh world.  She was a volunteer tutor for Learning Leaders for several years, and has co-written a book on the history of New York City.  At ADA she spends her time writing messages of thanks to our generous donors, and helping out in the workshop.

Carolyn Feenaghty

Volunteer since 2014

Carolyn is a Special Education teacher who insists that her students excel.  When asked why, after working all day, she comes to ADA to help in our workshop, she said

As a teacher, I have to be “on” from 8 to 3 every day, barely taking a break. At ADA I’m still doing things to benefit my students, but in an environment where everyone isn’t always waiting for me to say what’s next.  Besides, working with my hands in the workshop offers a chance to reflect on my day.”
